At Y, you will have the opportunity to meet over 1,200 industry experts representing 150 different companies. Our speakers come from all corners of the world, and you will have the chance to interact with like-minded people who share your passion.

As a volunteer at Y, you are a valuable part of a large community. You get the opportunity to work with people from different backgrounds—some with many years of experience, and others with no prior experience at all. We work closely together and solve tasks that are necessary to make Y as fantastic as possible.

No prior experience is necessary; the most important thing for us is that you are eager to contribute and have a strong work ethic.

To work as a volunteer at Y, you must be 18 years old or older.

Tasks

To make the conference run smoothly, we need help with both big and small tasks, ranging from seating arrangements, the welcoming committee, making coffee, keeping the common area clean, setting up for the conference, backstage, and transport.

If you have a special skill or would like to work on something specific, it would be great if you mention this in your application. You can specify three areas that you would like to work in. We will do our best to fulfill at least one of your preferences, but unfortunately, we can't guarantee that all requests will be met.

Below you will find some of the tasks we need help with:

+ Setting up and packing down (before and after the conference)
+ Decoration (before the conference)
+ Hosting / registration
+ Environment / recycling
+ Backstage
+ Transport (driver’s license required)
+ Catering

Is it paid?
Volunteers do not receive financial compensation, but they have the opportunity to attend the conference during the same time frame as they contribute with volunteer work. This means that for every hour/day you work as a volunteer, you'll get an equivalent amount of time as a participant - giving you the chance to experience a large portion of the talks and activities during the conference.

Do you cover transport or accommodation?
Unfortunately, we are unable to cover transport or accommodation for volunteers. We understand that this can be a challenge, especially for those who do not live near Oslo.

What is expected of me?
As a volunteer, you will act as an ambassador for Y, and therefor we will have certain expectations of you. As a volunteer, you must follow the assigned schedule and show up as agreed. In addition to this, we expect you to be helpful and approachable towards participants, other volunteers, our speakers, and sponsors.

Please familiarize yourself with our volunteer contract, where we outline the duties and benefits of being a volunteer. You will be asked to sign it before your first shift.

When will you hear from us?
Once you have submitted your application, you will receive a confirmation message via email. Please check your spam folder if you don’t see it in your inbox.

We will approve applications second week of October.
At that time, you will be informed of the tasks you will be assigned and receive more information about what to expect leading up to Y. Later, we will contact you with further details about your tasks and other relevant information. Please ensure you are available to work/take time off before applying.
